June 2009

In June the National Trust opened the park for a week until 10.00pm so that visitors could enjoy the late evening sunshine and the sunset over the Malvern Hills. A good number of visitors took advantage of this late opening and either enjoyed a themed supper in the canteen or took a picnic. The photographs below show a number of Friends enjoying their picnic by the lake and the sunset over Croome Court and the Malvern Hills

The  restoration of  the  Ice House in the Church Shrubbery  is now nearing completion. It is currently being thatched and this work  should be completed soon.  The photographs below show  (1) the building with the reconstructed roof frame an d  (2) the thatching almost complete. The thatch is of wheat straw and is being applied using a traditional method by a master thatcher from Herefordshire.
