September 2009

Croome Court Opens to the Public

On September 25th 2009 some 300 volunteers and guests  assembled on the lawn outside the South side of the Court having been invited to attend the official opening of some of the rooms of the Court  to the public. After an introduction and welcome by  Jane Farrington, Chairman of the National Trust West Midlands Committee and Friends Chairman Eric Jones everyone was asked to count down from 10  then all the shutters on the South side of the building were thrown back to reveal the rooms inside.

Everyone was then invited to tour those rooms which are now open.

We were pleased to be able to welcome our Patron, Lord George Coventry and our President, Sir Roy Strong. They were both delighted with the way in which the rooms were being presented and look forward to further rooms being open as restoration continues.

A new route from the N T reception has been made with a wide path from the church to the Court. For those people who may  find the walk difficult, a buggy  which travels from the car park, behind the church, passing the newly thatched ice house onto the new path is provided.
