RAF Defford

A Talk by Graham Evans & Dennis Williams

In mid February some 85 Friends of Croome members turned out to hear a fascinating and informative talk on R.A.F. Defford and the significant role it played in achieving a successful outcome to World War II.

Graham & Dennis provided a highly interesting power point slide show, using archive material, together with a detailed talk on the aircraft and personnel based at Defford and Malvern involved in the testing and development of radar.

This talk, on the more recent history of Croome, was very well received – using only a fraction of the archive material and stories available. Members will wish to note that Bob Shaw, author of ‘Top Secret Boeing’, will be giving a further talk entitled ‘Heroes of Radar Research & War Time Flying at R.A.F. Defford – People , Planes & Personalities’ on Thursday, 27th September 2012.
